Last Years Breast Cancer Survivor Glam Giveaway Winner Latoya Coley

Starting Gullah Business of Charleston didn’t happen by accident — I truly believe it was divinely purposed. Tiffany and I grew up with the lesson our grandmother always taught us: we had to love people. From the very beginning, when we started this business, we knew giving back had to be at the heart of everything we did. That commitment is still just as important to us today.

One of our special moments came when we interviewed Ms. Yolanda from Skyler M Style & Wellness. We talked about mental health, feeling good, and overcoming life’s challenges — and in that conversation, the spark for giving back grew even stronger.

From there, we reached out to Brittany from Catch B Travels, a past guest we had the pleasure of interviewing, and she immediately said yes to sponsoring a hotel room for the winner. Next, we put out an ad on Instagram to find a makeup artist, and that’s how we connected with Jenesis from @edenessence, along with photographer FTM Photography.

With all of this coming together, we were able to bless our giveaway winner with a hotel stay at Wild Dunes, located on the Isle of Palms here in South Carolina. The winner, Latoya Coley, touched our hearts with her inspiring story. Honestly, every single entry moved us — which made the selection process very difficult.

It was truly a pleasure meeting Latoya and her family, and we wish them nothing but the best. Here’s her story and a link to her powerful YouTube testimony:

My name is Latoya Coley, and I’m a breast cancer survivor, faith-filled mother of two boys, creative entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. I’m passionate about turning my pain into purpose — whether that’s sharing my journey on stage, writing books to help children understand a parent’s illness, or designing digital resources that uplift and empower women.

I speak from a place of lived experience — not just survival, but strength. I found purpose through my pain, and now I share my story to remind others that they, too, can overcome. Whether it’s creating children’s books, starting a faith-based Etsy shop, or mentoring women on how to navigate life after hardship — my mission is always the same: to encourage, inspire, and walk in truth. My life’s theme is simple: “I’m still here” — and I believe that means there’s still work for me to do.
